Homelessness affects millions of people worldwide, including in South Africa, and poses daily challenges impacting the physical and psychological well-being of those affected. This study sought to identify crucial processes and factors supporting homeless individuals, and enhancing their resilience and well-being. Resilience, as explored in this qualitative research, encompasses behavioural, psychological, social, and institutional resources enabling individuals to overcome adversity. Applying Seligman's positive psychology theory, the study conducted ten in-depth interviews with temporarily housed homeless adults in the George region of the Western Cape. Thematic analysis revealed psychological strengths, internal resources, and social support factors contributing to resilience despite risk factors. The findings suggest a need for a practical approach involving social, government, and support agents to empower the homeless, recognizing their agency while addressing structural constraints.en_US
