Abstract
Conclusions: ART initiation is very important for HIV positive women both for their own
health and for prevention HIV transmission to their children. This study found that ART
initiation among eligible pregnant women in Swaziland was statistically associated with
the presence of partner support and favourable perceptions of benefits of ART after
multiple logistic regression analysis. Stronger counselling and education for pregnant
women and male involvement strategies need to be implemented as momentum gathers
towards elimination of paediatric HIV by 2015.
