dc.description.abstractWorship music on the African continent has become a very contentious issue, especially in the contemporary religious settings. Music generally has also been identified to play a vital role in all forms of worship in Africa. Thereby, it has been packaged and segmented in various classes and genres that suites its practitioners, such that they can interact and freely express themselves. Music in African worship is extremely unique, such that it is intimately connected to African customs and practices. African music has created a new phase to Africans response to the Gospel. On the other hand, music has been instrumental in the contextualisation of African theology. Above all, music as well as prayers (i.e. imprecatory psalms) played an important role in the biblical worship and celebrations such that it expresses love and praise to Yahwehen_ZA
