Abstract

Description

The human figure in both figurative and symbolic form begins to reappear more conspicuously in Bettie’s work of the late sixties. In works like this crucifixion the form of the cross in itself suggests the human figure. In many of the works of this period the artist announces the reinstatement of the human figure in the conical forms and in the titles.
