| dc.description.abstract | The South African pay television broadcasting industry has been dominated by a single player for a long time, and this organisation enjoyed an uncontested monopoly status since its launch in 1995. However, the gradual growth of internet connectivity in South Africa, as well as the arrival of a global pay television competitor disrupted the status quo. This thesis drew on Christensen’s theory of disruptive innovation, in order to understand how the incumbent case company’s strategy formulation was influenced by the disruption within the pay television industry, as well as how the company was adapting their strategy formulation to mitigate the disruption surrounding them. | en_US |
