Abstract

Photograph of a painting by Gerard ter Borch of a domestic scene in a bedroom. The seated father is apparently admonishing his daughter, who is dressed in a beautifully rendered satin dress. The mother is sipping from a glass. Alternative interpretations of this painting exist. The photograph was probably considered for prof. Geoffrey Pearse's book "Eighteenth Century Furniture in South Africa", but never included.
