Analysis of linear and nonlinear mathematical models for beams, cables, columns and rods
The aim of the dissertation was to conduct a literature study on mathematical modelling, numerical computation and mathematical analysis of a linear and nonlinear Timoshenko model for the vibration of a rod with an axial force. Our attention is restricted to linear and semi-linear Timoshenko models for small oscillations. Simplified theories such as the Euler- Bernoulli theory are possible, but are not considered. An important objective of the study is the comparison of different models for the same application by theoretical analysis as well as simulation using the finite element method.
