Abstract

This lecture was presented to the third year Information Science students and gives a short introduction on what Figshare is, and a short description of how UP chose Figshare, what the frontend and backend of the system looks like and various functionalities in the frontend and backend. It also gives an overview of who the users of the system are, what UP is doing to create awareness (market) and train users, the types of materials on Figshare, how materials are acquired, rights management issues, access control, preservation, role players and their tasks, the statistics function, and the ability to integrate Figshare with other systems.
