Jan George van der Wath, Onderstepoort staff member who served Onderstepoort from 1936 to 1948. He qualified at the Onderstepoort
Faculty in 1934 and joined the Division of Veterinary (Field) Services in 1935 to
be posted to the Allerton Laboratory in Pietermaritzburg, Natal. In 1936 he was
transferred to the Physiology Department at Onderstepoort. He was awarded a DVSc degree in 1942 for a thesis entitled: 'Studies on the alimentary tract of the Merino sheep with special reference to the role of the micro-fauna and -flora’.
