Eloff’s reason for creating this unusual urn of a double-sided rhino head in earthenware is unknown. The pedestal ceramic urn is glazed in white as four copies were found during 1963 in possession of the family . The work is assumingly dated to 1912 because it can be faintly seen in the background archival photograph of Eloff’s Man bending a rod (1912).
