Coetzee produced a large quantity of mixed media works on paper during the 1980s and 1990s. By the mid 1990s these paintings became line drawings - mirroring his Perspex works. In 1992, the University of Pretoria hosted a retrospective Coetzee exhibition, after which he donated several of his works to the University. During this year, 92-75 Partial Head was specifically designed by Coetzee for the invitation card to the exhibition.
