David Livingstone
Unknown; Onderstepoort Veterinary Institute (South Africa)
Missionaries, such as David Livingstone, travelling in Africa, were among the first to encounter the many African diseases of livestock during their travels. Livingstone, in 1857, is wrongly credited with the first report of anthrax in Southern Africa. The first was J.E. Alexander in 1838.
