Celebrating cultural heritage within national parks
The South African National Parks (SANParks) has a long, rich, and well-decorated history regarding the management of biodiversity in the country. It has an unparalleled status as a leading biodiversity agency in Africa. However, there has been much bias against cultural heritage in the national parks managed by SANParks, as well as other conservation bodies in the country. Over time, cultural heritage was not given the same recognition as the wildlife and vegetation biomes of the many protected areas managed by the entity.
