The history of East Coast fever (ECF) spans more than 120 years and it is simply too vast and intricate to do justice to it by trying to give a detailed presentation of all the relevant events, facts and personas associated with this interesting but devastating disease. Comprehensive histories of ECF have been penned that deal with the minutiae of events that comprise its narrative (Lawrence, 1986; Norval et al., 1992). The current study will therefore focus on a question that does touch on ECF history and remains topical: “Was Theileria parva present in South Africa prior to ECF introduction, and was it ever eradicated?” (Read full abstract in the WAHVM 2020 proceedings https://repository.up.ac.za/handle/2263/74425)en_ZA
