dc.description.abstract | Red clover planted at Onderstepoort for autumn or spring forage for cattle. Red clover is a short-lived perennial and requires a short rotation. It establishes easily, has rapid spring growth, but lacks drought tolerance. It is classified as a legume pasture plant. Red clover has high protein content. Acidosis can occur when cattle consume too much carbohydrates in a short period of time. | en |
