Paper presented at the 26th Annual Southern African Transport Conference 9 - 12 July 2007 "The challenges of implementing policy?", CSIR International Convention Centre, Pretoria, South Africa. ABSTRACT:CFRP (Carbon Fibre Reinforced Polymer) is a kind of plastic which has characteristics of high strength, light weight, low relaxation and non-corrosion, and its applications in bridge engineering have been increasing recently. In this paper, the use of CFRP as the external prestressing tendons on Hewei Bridge in Jiangsu Province, China, is described.
